Type Locality and Naming
By Baysun village, Baysun depression. Yu.R. Smolnikov et al., 1971f. “-Neog” suffix added to distinguish from the Baysun-Jur of SW Gissar region.
Synonym: Baysunskaya Formation, Байсунская св., Baisun Fm
Lithology and Thickness
Gray, brownish-brown, orange sandstones, subordinate siltstone (aleurolites) and clays.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Overlies the Gadjak Fm with erosion
Upper contact
It is conformably overlain by the Kofrun-Neog Fm
Regional extent
Baysun and Surkhandarya depressions.
